Refused to use the entrapment defense in a clear case of entrapment where police targeted the defendant on an adult sex website and forced him to say he agreed to sex with a minor. Police did this by withholding something from their target (refusing to meet in person until the target gave in and told them exactly what they wanted to be told) and by threatening to do something they knew the target did not want to happen (for the girl to move on to the next person and demand sex from someone else). Police gaslit their target to force him to give in and tell them exactly what they wanted and needed him to say in order to create a fake case against him, to charge him with online solicitation of a minor, all done for their own sick thrills and other self-serving purposes. None of it has absolutely anything to do with trying to save or protect kids from online predators, as law enforcement and the prosecutor shamelessly lied about, and Alvaro Martinez helped them do this and get away with it.
So, first of all they consistently refused to meet in person if the meeting was not going to be about sex. This was after they claimed to be a 13 year-old virgin girl. This 13-year-old virgin girl had placed multiple ads on the adult sex website Craigslist, Casual Encounters, No Strings Attached, as an adult woman who was seeking men for a casual encounter (typically casual sex). She consistently steered and redirected the conversation to sex and rewarded the target when he started to pick up on the clues, confirming over and over again that this pretend 13 year-old virgin girl was only interested in meeting someone for sex and was not wiling to meet anyone for any other reason. She refused to meet to go to the mall. She refused to meet to play video games. She refused to meet to go to dinner or to a movie. She refused to meet with anybody to get to know the person and allow the person to find out more about her, her situation, etc. By doing this and acting as if she was only looking for someone to provide sex for her (simply because she was bored and curious about sex), this forced the defendant to give in and tell them exactly what they wanted to hear. There was no other option for getting to meet this person and keeping this person from moving on and demanding sex from other random adult male strangers.
This is 100% entrapment beyond reasonable doubt, yet Alvaro Martinez, an attorney who bragged about his education as a lawyer and yelled about how he should not be told how to do his job by someone who is not a lawyer flat out said this was not entrapment, and he flat out refused to use that defense. He refused to even listen to anything about it.
Alvaro Martinez did not even point out how sick, twisted, and disgusting it is for grown police officers to be sexualizing 13 year old girls the way they did in this fake child predator sting operation and then went around forcing that on random men who were on an adult sex website, to pretend like it was those other men having these kinds of thoughts about 13-year-old virgin girls, instead of them (the police officers who did this), the way it very clearly and obviously is. Maybe Alvaro Martinez just thinks this is the normal behavior of 13-old-year virgin girls. What does that say about him?
